This also happens sometimes when you mirror a mesh and it also mirrors the axis. Make sure you turn off mirror axis on the mirror tool.

when will this be finished/released?
when it's uploaded.

The abnormally large z3d size is due to the very large amount of duplicate textures and unused materials/textures. To remove the unused textures and materials click the unused materials tab in the material browser and then click delete and in the texture browser click the unused texture tab and select all the textures, then click remove.

I have to ask, since this looks very detailed: What's the poly count?
Have you considered using normal maps for the keyboard? The touchpad could use some depth, for example.
The entire iForce setup is 4991 polygons, and the Vigilant Video LPR system is 8109 which is pretty high because of the detailed mounts and wires.
I didn't really see a need for normal maps, since the key caps on the keyboard have a printed legend, and I made the track pad 3d, although it could use some edits to give it more depth now that you mention it.

I haven't updated this thread in a few months, but in that time I started learning 3ds max and here's what I have to show so far.
Rockwell Collins iForce (knobs by five0, HCD edits and some textures by desmond, main textures by neonlazer)
Vigilant Video LPR
Edit: I know the keyboard texture is green, and has been fixed since those pictures were taken.

Nice. Never saw those mounts before.
Thanks. I assume you're talking about the dual module? It's some proprietary dash mount, and I couldn't find many reference pictures, so some of it was guess work.

Made some updates to the Whelen Raider. It now has 3d ridges (that don't add too many polys), labels by NeOnLaZeR ,and a few different variants for an up coming project.

From what I know, bxbugs' fpiu from IV has extremely bugged normals.
-
I'm not sure if it's possible to change this, but I've noticed that the default plates have 8 digits compared to CA plates that only have 7.

Made a Federal Signal Sentry rotator so Izick could watch some 3d modeling in zmod. The reflector doesn't belong to me, but it's temporary until I can make my own. As it sits, it's about only 700 polygons.

I've been trying my hand at more 3D modeling in a long attempt at improving my skills. I figured I would make a thread to show what I've made and get some much needed advice and criticism. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

I've thought about that as well, but it has two disadvantages:1. AI cars will spawn using both, half of the time it won't have the right plate.
2. You lose extras you could use for ELS or other parts. If you do it properly, you need one extra for each plate, as they're often connected to moving parts like the the trunk or bumpers that could fall off.yea, I feel that It's up to the author of the model to weigh out the pros and cons, but it was just an idea
I think with extra part he means for DEV cars. So that you have a templated plate beneath the normal plate, so you just need to delete the normal one in zmod so you can use the templated plate.
I meant the whole make the plates actual extras in game, but I believe all dev models should come with that option of default plates or templated plates.
-
Maybe an idea could be that you use (an) extra(s) for the plates, so if someone wants to use templated plates or default GTA plates, the model would be able to offer both.
-
I don't know if it helps or if you already know, but the Forza Horizon 3 CVPI has the correct door panels.

Awesome rambar! Thanks Carper
